When sports returns you should show extra caution. Guys that have been good forever may not be good now. Keep in mind, they too have never experienced downturns like this before. Months of no income - income they may have become used too. Maybe pulling from there reserves, if they existed at all.

  • Treat it as you would a new local that you've never done business with before
  • Lower your settle amount
  • Even medium players should spread their action out
  • Avoid parlays with high payouts
  • Don't run up balances on hot streaks, switch books and wait for payment
  • One payment doesn't mean they are good, slowly build up your trust again
  • Talk- Ask people who you know play at that shop if they been paid recently.

This maybe great advice for offshores as well.

Best of luck.

It's gonna be a mess on both sides ....players taking shots & local books not having the capital to take big hits.

What looks too obviously good...go the opposite of your urges. At first at least.

While you're not wrong, this works the same for locals and their players. This day and age with pph readily available everybody is a bookie so buyer beware. I'd bet that any local bm that was solid before this is going to be equally solid after its over. Its the ones who were teetering on the edge already who you need to watch out for.

My main local who I've been dealing with for over 30 years is a multi-millionaire so no worries here. He books just for the sake of keeping busy. I am one of the few customers (100+ total) that he allows to call him direct for lines and action. NEVER once in 30+ years was there ever a time I couldn't pay or get paid. Every Tuesday morning same place, same time just like clock work. He is 69 years old and like a bull.

I think its the opposite .. this helps locals .. MLB is a waste of time, they do it just to keep the sheet together .. a season in MLB they break even is a good season for a local ..

I've seen locals shit hammered heading into nfl roughed up because of MLB .. march madness was a hit but in comparison to the past, MM not the goldmine it used to be.

career losers betting dogs now and minimizing their losses .. no-one surprised by any upset .. locals at the keno shop last year wrote more dogs than faves the entire tourney

2 season ago the royals and the padres were the worst teams I ever seen in MLB .. KC had 1 legitimate big league bat in the lineup .. moutsakis .. and the black CF that was a bust forever .. so what do they do at the deadline? trade moutsakis .. I mean the only shot you had as a local was for mutsakis to drive in some runs to pin a guy that bet against them at -280 , in clutch, and that was gone .. the padres m all they had was a great closer that year , that's it .. and a decent pen but not great .. your only chance was to take a lead deep and let the closer win it .. once again trade deadline .. he was traded and it was open season .. you could hit -320 faves all over the place

a pro scout made a comment that year , that he went through the Marlins active roster as a goof and he only recognized a few names .. that same season , the Red Sox on massive win streak, guys holding their nose and laying -300 like ice cream .. the final game of the series for the sweep .. routine grounder to the SS Riddle of the Marlins , he steps on 2b and for the final out .. sails the ball into the dugout extending the game .. runner from 3rd scores to tie game ..runner advances to 2nd .. next batter drives him in ..locals were getting torched on the reg .. this is good for your local

How much money are the offshores taking in with their casinos? Especially will all land based casinos closed. Me thinks a lot and I dont go into the offshore casinos. I self exclude myself. My offshore money is to bet sports.

It definitely doesn't help them. Solid ones will certainly be fine, but it by no means helps.

So true. Years ago many NY/NJ local books used to head to Florida during baseball season and resume back for football. A known fact, a lot of books either make a little or lose during baseball season.

I'm curious if people have asked for a payout in the past 2 months if they got paid. Heard some people complain that places like Bookmaker were not paying. Nobody paid attention to the posts so I have no clue what happened
